A MELBOURNE musician who toured the world alongside Queen and witnessed the spiral of some of the world’s most talented stars has penned a song about the dangers of addiction.Rhett May hopes his single “The Violence of Ice’’ might act as a wake up call for users.

A rock singer who has moulded his unique sound over several decades, May said he had seen how drug use had destroyed too many lives and questioned why more musicians didn’t take a stand against substance abuse. “I consider myself an advocate against substance abuse and the violence it creates against women, children and the rest of the community,’’ he said.

May said despite touring the world he had avoided drugs of any kind.
